When did I start scrapping?
Three years ago I've looked at 2 scrapbook albums at work and I couldn't believe what I saw. My first thought was, well this is only for rich people and I was very sad that my two girlies won't have albums like this, till I actually went to a scrapbook shop for the first time. Ever since I've discovered scrap booking that day I haven't stopped yet. In the past three years I've only did one class and three workshop days, no other training.
My favourite theme to scrapbook?
Because I've got girls, absolutely girly pages, boy pages too but you can do so much with girly pages. After girly pages I choose beach pages. Description of my scrapbooking style?
I choose to scrap bright, drastic pages. I scrap specifically to tell a story. After the photos on my pages journaling is most important ‘cause you want your grandchildren and great grand children to sit down and read what and why you've done. Which scrapping trends have caught my attention?
I would pick up a scrapbook magazine now and then but I don't follow trends, I've got my own style and I know what I want. How I feel is the trend for the day. That equals seven trends per week. How do I go about starting a layout and what process do you follow?
Look at your photos and think of the story you want to tell
Get some background paper and cardstock to match your photos or not to match your photos. It doesn't necessarily have to match your photos.
Mat your photos and place them anywhere on your page. Arrange them on the page as you wish.
Leave space for a heading
Plan where your journaling will be
Ad some embellishments if you want Tips and hints for new scrapbookers?
Scrapbook teachers are there to guide you, listen to them, go for a few classes and then do your own scrapbook pages; their story is not the same as your story so why copy pages all the time. Understand that you need you own album that reflects your life. Who is my scrapbooking heroes?
I haven't got an international hero because they scrap to plain it's as if their pages don't tell the whole story. The South African style is very different so therefore if I must name just a few it would be Louise Eichner and Candice Greenway. Space doesn't allow for more names but phone me I'll give you my list. Do I choose digital or traditional scrapping?
I do both but prefer traditional. It's hands-on, it's 3D, its stunning and you get to spend time with your friends eating and chatting away…I haven't yet seen a scrapbook classroom with 6 computers around the table including fun and laughter. For a start you will not be able to see your friends and it's not user friendly to have eats and drinks close to a computer. What have I gained from scrapbooking as a person?
I've now got the privilege to leave my story to those that comes after me, who wants to know our family history, how I lived my life and what we've done. While I'm scrapping I'm busy teaching my girls to also scrap so that my story doesn't stop here. |
